15 product examplesProduct-family engineering
Named-alloy die casting coordinated with CNC machining and finishing.
This product family groups projects where ADC12 or A380 identification, CNC machining or a controlled surface route is central to the purchase decision. Examples include gearbox housings, end covers, brackets, panels and heat sinks with machined bores, faces, holes, threads, blasting, coating or anodizing.
ADC12 and A380 belong to different designation systems. A commercial comparison is not enough to approve substitution. The customer material standard, chemical limits, regulatory requirements and the effect on casting, machining and finishing must be reviewed as one change.
The machining plan begins with the final assembly datum scheme. Stable as-cast locating areas establish the first setup; later operations transfer to machined datums so bearing bores, sealing faces and hole patterns remain related after unclamping.
Engineering decisions
Define the manufacturing system before approving the tool.
These decisions change tooling, process stability, downstream cost and the evidence required for production release.
| Decision | What to define | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Material authority | Customer standard and grade limits | Prevents uncontrolled ADC12/A380 substitution |
| Machining datum plan | As-cast contacts, master datums and setup transfer | Controls bore-to-face and hole-pattern relationships |
| Finish sequence | Machine, mask, finish and final inspection order | Protects fits, threads, thermal faces and visible zones |
| Approval package | Material, dimensional, appearance and functional evidence | Defines release before repeat production |
Risks to resolve
Datum-chain accumulation
Unrelated machining setups can create individually acceptable dimensions but poor assembly relationships. Establish the functional frame early.
Porosity opened by machining
Deep stock removal can expose pores on a seal or bore. Coordinate machining allowance with casting-flow and critical-zone review.
Finish changes fit or appearance
Film thickness, anodized cast-alloy appearance and post-finish cutting require representative trials and masking rules.
Mixed revision or alloy
A named-alloy project needs traceable drawing, material and process revision control from quotation through shipment.
Factory evidence
Equipment and quality controls behind the product family.
Huabo’s documented factory resources are shown separately from drawing-specific tolerances, testing and acceptance limits.

Die casting equipment
Huabo documents a 58T–800T die casting equipment range. Machine selection is reviewed from projected area, tool size, shot requirement, alloy and the process window needed by the drawing—not from part weight alone.

Tooling and CNC machining
Tool coordination, vertical machining centers and turning equipment support bores, faces, holes, threads and sealing interfaces after casting. Fixture datums and machining sequence are reviewed with the part function.

Inspection resources
Dimensional inspection stations, CMM capability and material-analysis resources support first-piece approval and repeat production control. The characteristic list and sampling plan remain drawing-specific.

Questions to resolve before quotation and mold manufacturing.
Answers below define a reliable starting point; the controlled customer drawing remains the final authority.
Are ADC12 and A380 the same alloy?
No. They are designations from different standards. Any alternative requires documented technical review and customer approval.
How much machining allowance should be added?
Enough to clean the functional surface across expected casting variation, but not an arbitrary large amount that increases time, heat and porosity exposure.
Can an anodized ADC12 casting match wrought 6061 appearance?
A high-silicon casting alloy can show different color and uniformity. Approve a sample made from the production casting route.
When should final dimensions be inspected?
After every operation that can change the controlled feature, including machining, coating build-up, straightening or assembly preparation.
